Lior Cohen ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Curio: Learn by Listening mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

You can use Curio as a guest. If you choose to sign in for account persistence or sync, we collect information provided through your sign-in method:

• Guest/device use: A device identifier used to keep your library, quota, and preferences working without email/password sign-in.
• Apple Sign-In: Your name (if you choose to share it) and email address (which may be a private relay address provided by Apple).
• Google Sign-In: Your name, email address, and profile picture URL associated with your Google account.

We do not collect or store passwords. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple and Google's secure sign-in services.

User-Generated Content

We store content you create while using the App, including:

• Topics you request to learn about
• AI-generated lesson scripts created for you
• Audio files generated from those scripts
• Your learning history and preferences

Subscription Information

Subscription and purchase data is managed by RevenueCat. We receive information about your subscription status (active, expired, etc.) but do not have access to your payment details such as credit card numbers. Payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store.

Automatically Collected Information

We may automatically collect certain information when you use the App, including device type, operating system version, and general usage analytics to help us improve the App experience.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Generate personalized audio lessons based on your requested topics
• Process and manage your subscription
• Improve and optimize the App
• Communicate with you about your account or the App (e.g., support inquiries)
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

• OpenAI: We use OpenAI services for lesson planning, script generation, web research, text-to-speech, recap quizzes, topic suggestions, and cover images. OpenAI processes this data in accordance with their privacy policy.
• Cloudflare R2: Stores generated lesson audio and cover images.
• RevenueCat: Manages subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes data in accordance with their privacy policy.
• Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In: Used for authentication. These services operate under their respective privacy policies.
• PostHog: Provides product analytics that help us understand app usage and improve Curio.
• Sentry: Provides crash reporting and error monitoring.
• Expo Push Notifications: Sends push notifications such as lesson-ready alerts when notifications are enabled.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With the third-party service providers listed above, solely for the purpose of operating the App
• If required by law, regulation, or legal process
• To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you would be notified of any such change)

Shared Lesson Library

Lessons generated through the App may be made available anonymously to other Curio users as part of Curio's lesson library. Only the lesson's audio, title, and topic are included — your account, name, and email are never shown. Lessons undergo automated safety filtering (for copyright, personal information, and quality) before inclusion, and you may request removal of a specific lesson at any time by contacting support@learnbylistening.app.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and user-generated content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information and lesson content within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Data portability
